🍁➡️🎄 From Fall Leaves to Holiday Reads: What’s Happening in Our Library!

The snow is coming, the halls are getting festive, and the library is gearing up for one of the most exciting reading seasons of the year! Whether you’re finishing strong before winter break or just looking for your next great book, there’s lots happening in the library this month.

📚 New Books Alert!

We’ve got some seriously awesome new titles arriving, including:

  • White Bird by R.J. Palacio — a powerful graphic novel that connects to Wonder

  • We Were Liars Trilogy by E. Lockhart — twisty, dramatic, and impossible to put down

  • Going to the Movies Collection by Lynn Painter — romance, humour, and binge-worthy vibes
    They’ll be hitting the shelves soon, so keep an eye out!

⭐ Author Spotlight: R.J. Palacio

This month’s spotlight is on R.J. Palacio, the author behind Wonder and the beautiful graphic novel White Bird. Her stories remind us of the power of kindness, courage, and standing up for others — themes that feel especially important as we head into the holiday season.

🎄 Christmas Reading Challenge

Our Christmas Reading Challenge kicks off soon!
Read books from different categories (fantasy, graphic novel, “book with snow,” mystery, feel-good story, etc.) and check them off your challenge card.
Complete the card and you’ll be entered to win a holiday-themed prize—think treats, swag, or something cozy for winter break.

 **Welcome to Winter in the DAF Learning Commons!** As the season of snowflakes and cozy reading begins, I'm excited to bring you all the latest updates and events happening in the learning commons this winter. From exciting book recommendations to engaging activities, there’s something for everyone! Recently I had this conversation with a student.  Student: "Miss Vicki, I read this book at my other school and I want to read it again, but I don't remember what it is called or who the author is." Me: "What was the main character's name?" Student: "I don't remember that either." Me: "What do you remember?" Student: "That the cover was (insert colour here)."
